After 2019,
Modi government has announced revival scheme for
BSNL again this year. But the company has not yet brought
4G. Workers' organizations claim that as a result, they are losing customers and falling into the competitive market. BSNLEU general secretary P Abhimanyu has written to Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnab demanding that they also agree to use the equipment of multinational companies.
Airtel,
Reliance Jio,
Vodafone Idea have entered the race for
5G services in the country. For this they are making alliances to use various multinational equipment and infrastructure. Based on that, the employees' union (BSNLEU) again accused the state-owned telecom company BSNL of delaying the competition. They claim that private companies are walking the path of improvement by seamlessly using domestic and foreign private company equipment to provide 4G and 5G services. However, the Center has directed BSNL to use indigenous technology and equipment for 5G in the future as well as 4G connectivity. It is not clear whether it is still complete or not.
State-owned research firm
C-DOT and
Tatas' TCS and
Tejas are developing indigenous 4G technology under the direction of the Centre. However, there is some confusion about the technology and the price of the device based on it. Recently CMD of BSNL PK Purwar said that talks are going on. The process of launching 4G will start from November. However, Abhimanyu says that the possibility is low before December. Their question is, how much will BSNL fall back?
