Is the sun smiling?
The bright smile of the sun. No, not in the imagination of the poet-lyricist. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured such a scene in reality. Seeing this picture, the sun will seem to be smiling.
- What's the story?
In this image taken last Thursday, several dark spots are visible on the Sun. They form a smiley face. Due to the bright yellow color of the sun which is more prominent. The picture looks like our nearest star is looking at us with a sweet smile on its one pair of eyes and chubby face. That smile can erase all the suffering and pain.
Sharing the image on social media, NASA explained, these dark areas are actually 'coronal holes'. In this region, rapid bursts of the solar wind are spreading out into space.
"Today, the Sun's 'smile' was captured by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory," NASA tweeted.
- What's next?
Undoubtedly, this 'Smiling Sun' is a very attractive picture. However, experts are seeing problems in the meantime. They say it can cause problems in the world.
According to SpaceWeather.com, a stream of solar wind is heading towards Earth from this coronal hole. And because of that, a solar storm is likely to hit Earth on Saturday (October 29).
